Anna Virtanen

Anna (b. 1980) graduated as an animation director from the Turku Arts Academy in 2008. Her hand-drawn animation films Saturday (2005) and Death in the Yellow House (2008) have been screened at various international animation and film festivals. They have won prizes in Finland, Sweden and Czech Republic among other countries.

Anna enjoys making paper cut-outs and pencil drawings of different characters. Both her animations and illustrations are inspired by the characteristics of pencil traces, surprising colour combinations as well as strange affairs.

Anna spends her free time in museums or by glaring at people in trams.
