Elina (b. 1984) graduated as an animation director from the Turku Arts Academy in 2009. Her hand-drawn animation movie Stage Fright (2008) won the prize for the best film under 3 minutes in length at Fox Days, the annual Finnish short and documentary film festival in 2008 and the special prize at the Eksjö Animation Festival in 2009.
Elina draws and makes collages combining handmade and digital elements. Inspired by still images of her favourite movies, the spatial concepts of Persian art and the Japanese artist Yoshitoshi's horror illustrations, her animations and illustrations typically involve abstract patterns, they make use of a minimalist colour palette and a characteristically lightweight style.
The project of Elina's dreams would be to illustrate the horoscope in a women's magazine. In her free time, she watches movies, dreams and does pilates.
