Romi lives and works in Tokyo. She graduated from the local Setsu Mode Seminar school for fashion illustration in 1990, having spent a year as an exchange student at the Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design in London.
After working long enough for the fashion industry, Romi decided to broaden her illustration career to magazines, record covers, textiles and advertisements. Colours play a central role in her illustrations. Romi often works with acrylics, pencil or coloured pencil.
Her work has been displayed in various exhibitions in and out of Japan, and she has been awarded e.g. in the Zurich Illustrative Awards competition in 1999 and DS Design Competition in 2006.
